The Arizona Wildcats can add one more scholarship player this offseason, and their only known target at this point is 2018 forward Parker Braun.
The Wildcats offered Braun in April and it appears their recruitment will take another step forward, as Braun told 247Sports that he plans to take an official visit to Arizona after the dead period ends this week.
The 6-foot-9 Overland Park, Kansas product has visited LSU and Illinois so far and has received interest from several other major-conference schools, including Virginia Tech, Ohio State, and Ole Miss.
Braun told 247Sports that he will probably choose a school by the end of May.
“I don’t want to wait until June because you should be on campus and in classes during the summer so probably by the end of this month is about as late as it gets,” he said.
Braun would add depth to an Arizona frontcourt that currently consists of Chase Jeter, Ira Lee, Ryan Luther, and Emmanuel Akot.
While unranked, Braun is an interesting prospect given his ability to shoot from the perimeter, his athleticism, and his willingness to play defense.
According to PrepHoops.com, Braun is “known for his shot blocking presence, electric slam dunks and an emerging stretch 4 game.”
“I would describe my game as sort of defensively centered. I love that side of the ball and with energy and good defense offense comes with great teammates,” he told the site.
If Arizona fails to land Braun, it may roll over its last 2018 scholarship to 2019 since there aren’t many other players left on the market.
Arizona’s 2018 recruiting class currently ranks 21st in the country.
