After winning their third championship in four years, the Golden State Warriors are finalizing an extension with head coach Steve Kerr, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The extension will make Kerr one of the highest paid coaches in the NBA, per Wojnarowski. The former Arizona Wildcat made $5 million in 2017-18, which was middle-of-the-road compensation.
NBC’s Monte Poole is reporting Kerr’s extension will more than double his current salary.

Kerr has a 265-63 record in four seasons with the Warriors. When they swept the Cavaliers in the 2018 NBA Finals, he became just the sixth coach to win three or more NBA championships. Kerr also won five as a player.
The Warriors will be favorites to repeat in 2018-19, so Kerr likely isn’t done building on his already impressive résumé.
