“On Sunday after returning from our trip in the Bay Area, Emmanuel informed our coaching staff that he will not play the remainder of the season and intends to transfer at the end of the spring semester,” Miller said, reading from a prepared statement.
“We will continue to support Emman this spring while he’s here academically as a student. He’s an outstanding student, currently in good academic standing, and we want to ensure that when he transfers that that remains the same for him.
“Emman is a great young man and I wish him continued success on his journey ahead. If you’d like to ask me questions about our team, the guys that are here, I’ll be more than happy to answer, but that’s my statement as it applies to Emmanuel making his decision.”
Miller expects Ryan Luther to take Akot’s spot in the starting lineup and Ira Lee and Dylan Smith to take on larger roles to compensate for Akot’s departure.
