Arizona target Puff Johnson not reclassifying to 2019

It’s looking more and more like Arizona is done making roster changes this offseason

After an offseason loaded with turnover, it is looking more and more like the Arizona Wildcats are done making roster changes.

On Tuesday it was reported by the Raleigh News and Observer that 2020 recruiting target Donovan ‘Puff’ Johnson will not be classifying to 2019.

Arizona is considered a frontrunner to land the 6-foot-7 forward, as four of the five Crystal Ball predictions have him choosing the Wildcats. The other predicts he will go to North Carolina, where his older brother, Cameron, starred.

Johnson’s father Gilbert, who played with Arizona head coach Sean Miller at Pitt, told the News and Observer that his son has taken an official visit to Notre Dame along with unofficial visits to UNC, Georgetown and Pitt. He then added that Johnson will take five more official visits, with a decision coming “hopefully soon.”

Johnson is the No. 49 player in the 2020 class, per 247Sports composite rankings.

Eastern Kentucky graduate transfer Dujuanta Weaver, who reportedly had an offer from Arizona, recently committed to Saint Louis, another sign that the UA will head into the 2019-20 season with the roster it has now.

Currently, Arizona’s 13 scholarship players are:

  1. Nico Mannion
  2. Brandon Williams
  3. Josh Green
  4. Stone Gettings
  5. Chase Jeter
  6. Zeke Nnaji
  7. Max Hazzard
  8. Ira Lee
  9. Dylan Smith
  10. Devonaire Doutrive
  11. Christian Koloko
  12. Jemarl Baker Jr.*
  13. Jordan Brown*
