A pair of former Arizona Wildcats made big plays in Utah on Thursday when the Boise State Broncos outlasted the BYU Cougars 74-70.

UA transfer Emmanuel Akot buried the game-winning 3 for the Broncos to finish with 13 points on 12 shots.

Just before that, his former UA teammate Alex Barcello drove for a layup to tie the game at 70. The Arizona transfer had 22 points on just 11 shots as he continues to emerge as one of the best guards in college basketball.

Through seven games, the senior is averaging 19.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 62 percent from the field and 63 percent from 3.

Last year, his first with the Cougars, Barcello averaged 9.3 PPG and shot 49 percent from 3, the third-best mark in the country.

Barcello and Akot were both part of the Arizona’s No. 1-ranked 2017 recruiting class that also brought Deandre Ayton, Brandon Randolph and Ira Lee to Tucson.

The two caught up after the game:

Boise State has another Arizona transfer in Devonaire Doutrive, who was teammates with Akot and Barcello at Arizona in 2018-19, but he has to sit out until the spring semester due to NCAA rules.
