So much for one last tune-up before Pac-12 play.
The Arizona Wildcats announced that Wednesday’s home game vs. California Baptist has been cancelled due to a COVID-19 case within the Lancers’ program as well as the resulting contract tracing mitigation protocols.
Tip-off was set for 5 p.m. MST, and the news was released around 2:30 p.m. MST.
“The news of the cancellation is very disappointing to student-athletes, coaches and fans,” the UA said in a statement. “However, health and safety must remain our top priorities as we move forward.”
It’s the fourth game the Wildcats have seen get cancelled this season due to their opponent having a COVID-19 case.
That means Arizona’s next game isn’t until Saturday against Stanford in Santa Cruz. The Cardinal are unable to host games right now due to COVID-19 restrictions in Santa Clara country.
Such is life when trying to play college basketball during a pandemic.
