March Madness is over before it ever started.

The NCAA announced Thursday afternoon that it was cancelling all winter and spring championships, the most notable of which are the men's and women's basketball tourneys that were set to begin next week, due to ongoing concerns about the global coronavirus pandemic.

The Arizona Wildcats were expected to be a part of both events. The UA women's team, which reached the Pac-12 Tournament semifinals last week, were in line to host first- and second round games while the UA men were in the middle of the Pac-12 tourney in Vegas when that was officially cancelled Thursday morning.

The NCAA's announcement also means all spring sports are done, meaning UA baseball, softball, golf, tennis, track & field and beach volleyball have all played their final competitions of the season.
