Estonian prospect Kerr Kriisa committed to the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday. Per ESPN, he is “considered the top European recruit committing to the college route.”
The 19-year-old is a 2020 prospect and will join the Wildcats for the 2020-21 season.
The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 14.8 points and 6.0 assists per game with Zalgiris in the Lithuanian NKL while shooting 39 percent from 3 and 84 percent from the free-throw line.
Kriisa also spent some time with Prienai CBET in the LKL, the top league in Lithuania, where he averaged 3.6 points and 2.2 assists while shooting 35 percent from 3.
Kriisa joins an Arizona backcourt that also features Brandon Williams, James Akinjo and Seattle U grad transfer Terrell Brown.
It is unclear if Akinjo will be eligible to play immediately or if Williams will be healthy enough to play (or play at a high level) so Kriisa at minimum provides some insurance if things don’t go as planned.
Not including transfers, Kriisa is Arizona’s third 2020 commit, joining four-star wings Dalen Terry and Ben Mathurin. The Wildcats now have 10 players under scholarship for 2020-21, meaning they still have three more spots to fill.
