Adia Barnes has been loading up on highly-ranked frontcourt recruits over the past few years. On Saturday, she reinforced that she could get the guards, too. Arizona got its second verbal commitment from a top 100 guard in the 2022 class when Canadian combo guard Lemyah Hylton announced that she would play for the Wildcats.
Hylton’s commitment adds the HoopGurlz No. 84 player to a class that already includes No. 9 Maya Nnaji and No. 31 Kailyn Gilbert. It’s a class that could rival or surpass the 2018 class that included Cate Reese, especially if Barnes adds additional signees. In early October, she said that she hoped to add as many as three more.
On the travel circuit, Hylton competes for the Kia Nurse Elite EYBL program out of Hamilton, Ontario. The Mississagua, Ontario native relocated two hours from home to play her high school ball at Southwest Academy in London, Ontario.
When her team played at the University of Michigan Team Shootout in June of 2019, LBI Insider wrote, “With a guard like Lemyah Hylton ‘22, a player that is a willing defender, quality passer and can score, this team will make a lot of noise North of the border this upcoming season.”
In addition to Arizona, Hylton had a top five that included Alabama, Maryland, Michigan, and North Carolina. She took an official visit to Arizona in September.
