Arizona women’s basketball has become accustomed to having more than one player on the preseason All-Pac-12 list. This season was no different as the media named senior power forward Cate Reese and super senior wing Sam Thomas to the list of the top 15 players in the league.

The league's media has selected its 15-member Preseason All-Conference Team and tabbed @StanfordWBB as the unanimous choice to win the 2021-22 Pac-12 women’s basketball title.
Both Reese and Thomas are coming off seasons when they were named to the All-Pac-12 team. It was the second straight selection for Reese. Thomas is also a two-time All-Defense selection and has been named to the preseason watch list for the Cheryl Miller Award, given to the nation’s top small forward this year.
Both players have started every game of their Wildcat careers. In her four years at Arizona, Thomas has averaged 9.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.76 steals, and 1.35 blocks in 33.9 minutes per game. She shoots 41.5 percent from the floor including 36.1 percent from the 3-point line.
Reese was Arizona’s first female McDonald’s All-American. She has averaged 12.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 0.97 steals in 26.4 minutes per game over her three-year career with the Wildcats.
Reese recently announced that she would be returning for her second senior season next year. Thomas took advantage of the same extra year offered by the NCAA in light of the pandemic.
