The Arizona Wildcats were without backup big man Ira Lee in Thursday’s 70-61 win over Oregon State due to an ankle injury and he could miss Saturday’s matchup vs. Oregon too.
The program is listing the senior as day to day.
“He hurt his ankle in yesterday’s practice,” head coach Sean Miller said after Thursday’s win over the Beavers. “Ira is a pretty tough kid. He couldn’t really do much on it today. So, twofold. A, making sure that we rested him so he can recover, and if there is a chance that he would be available on Saturday, not doing anything today maybe gives him that chance. But I don’t know his status yet.”
For the season, Lee is averaging 3.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.4 blocks in 11.7 minutes. On a per-minute basis, he is Arizona’s second-best rebounder but also the team’s most foul-prone player.
With Lee out, Arizona is down to three true big men—Christian Koloko, Jordan Brown and Azuolas Tubelis. Small forwards Bennedict Mathurin, Dalen Terry, Tibet Görener can slide over to the 4 if needed too.
The Wildcats are also without French freshman Daniel Batcho. The 6-foot-11 center has not played this season after undergoing knee surgery in October and head coach Sean Miller has ruled him out for the season.
