The amount of “Arizona flavor” on new coach Tommy Lloyd’s staff just doubled.
Jason Terry will remain part of the Wildcats’ coaching staff as an assistant, it was announced Wednesday.
Terry joins Jack Murphy, who was retained as associate head coach on Monday. No word yet on the status of Arizona’s third assistant, Danny Peters.
Though he has only been on Arizona’s staff for one season, Terry brings both recruiting ties and a strong connection to the alumni. He played for the Wildcats from 1995-99, coming off the bench for the 1997 national title team, then spent 19 seasons in the NBA.
Terry, a Seattle native, was instrumental in Arizona landing 4-star guard Shane Nowell and also enabled the Wildcats to make inroads with other prospects from the Pacific Northwest.
Terry’s return comes on the same day word broke that freshman point guard Kerr Kriisa was withdrawing from the NCAA transfer portal. Kriisa had been spotted in a picture from Lloyd’s first workout with his new team on Wednesday, fueling rumors he was coming back.
