Arizona transfer James Akinjo will continue his career with the defending national champion Baylor Bears, he announced Friday on Instagram.
The 6-foot-1 point guard entered the transfer portal after the Wildcats fired head coach Sean Miller.
A feisty ball-dominant guard, Akinjo was an All-Pac-12 First-Teamer in his lone season with the Wildcats after transferring in from Georgetown. The junior started in all 26 games and averaged career highs in points (15.6), assists (5.4), field goal percentage (.380) and 3-point percentage (.408).
Akinjo is the third guard the Wildcats have lost to transfer this offseason, the other two being Jemarl Baker Jr. (Fresno State) and Terrell Brown Jr. (Washington).
That leaves them thin at that position, but they do return Kerr Kriisa and are one of six finalists for five-star point guard TyTy Washington.
