Arizona Wildcats freshman Tibet Görener has entered the transfer portal, according to VerbalCommits.com.

The 6-foot-9 Turkish forward only played 30 minutes throughout the 2020-21 season. He was known as a great shooter but a major work in progress in other areas of his game, particularly on defense.

Before arriving at Arizona, Görener attended Orange Lutheran High School in Southern California and played for the Turkish youth national team. He was the No. 200 player in the 2020 recruiting class and also had offers from Creighton, Nebraska and UConn.

Assuming Görener does transfer, it leaves new Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd with 10 players currently set to be under scholarship in 2021-22, three under the 13 maximum.

Those 10 are:

  1. Kerr Kriisa
  2. Bennedict Mathurin
  3. Azuolas Tubelis
  4. Jordan Brown
  5. Dalen Terry
  6. Christian Koloko
  7. Tautvilas Tubelis
  8. Oumar Ballo
  9. Shane Nowell
  10. Shane Dezonie

Arizona’s top target right now is 5-star point guard TyTy Washington, who is being recruited at least twice a day by Lloyd and was on campus for the UA football spring game.
