Arizona to host Welcome Back event for women’s basketball team on Monday

The University of Arizona will host a celebration Monday for the Wildcats women’s basketball program in honor of their run to the NCAA Tournament national title game.

Arizona fell to Stanford 54-53 Sunday evening, but was playing in their first NCAA Tournament since 2005 and their first ever Final Four.

The school will hold the “Welcome Home” event at Arizona Stadium. Seating opens to the public at 10:00 am MST, and the ceremony begins at approximately 11:15 am.

Attendance will be limited to 15% capacity.

Fans are expected to follow social distancing measures including mask wearing.

Concessions will not be open, but bottles of water will be provided at the stadium entrance. Fans are expected to follow social distancing measures including mask wearing.

Fans are encouraged to park at Cherry Garage.

The team will travel by bus to the stadium, and fans will be allowed to gather along the route, which will have the team travel northbound on Campbell, turn west on Enke, north on Cherry and westbound on 4th before arriving at Arizona Stadium.

For fans who can’t attend in person, the school will stream the ceremony on the Arizona Athletics Facebook page.
