Tommy Lloyd is hanging on to another member of Sean Miller’s staff, retaining strength and conditioning coordinator Chris Rounds.

The 2021-22 season will be the 12th at Arizona for Rounds, who was Miller’s strength and conditioning coach at Xavier from 2004-09 before joining him in Tucson. He also served as Loyola Marymount’s strength coach from 2000-04 and was an assistant strength coach at Kentucky 1997-2000, winning a national championship with the Wildcats in 1998.

Rounds joins associate head coach Jack Murphy and assistant Jason Terry as holdovers from the Miller era. Lloyd still has an assistant coach position to fill after Danny Peters was not retained.

Other staff changes Lloyd has confirmed are the additions of TJ Benson as special assistant to the head coach/recruiting coordinator, Ken Nakagawa as director of advanced scouting and Rem Bakamus as director of player development. All three have ties to Lloyd’s previous school, Gonzaga, where Benson and Nakagawa were on staff and where Bakamus played as a walk-on before spending the past three seasons as a graduate assistant at Baylor.

Arizona’s online roster continues to list Justin Kokoskie, who has been at the school since 2000, as trainer, while Justin Coleman and Justyn Thomas are listed as graduate managers.
