The Arizona Board of Regents approved contracts for UA basketball coaches Tommy Lloyd and Adia Barnes on Thursday.
Lloyd’s 5-year contract will pay him $2.9 million for the 2021-2022 season. Lloyd will receive $1.8 million in base salary and $1.1 million from supplemental duties including compensation from IMG and Nike.
By year five, Lloyd will earn $3.3 million.
Lloyd’s contract includes a cause that adds one or two more seasons depending on the severity of sanctions handed down by the NCAA. An additional postseason ban, scholarship reductions, or recruiting restrictions would lead Arizona to request more years to his deal.
If penalties cover only one season, Lloyd would receive $3.4 million in his sixth year. If they cover two season, he would make $3.5 million in his seventh year
Meanwhile, Barnes will make $1 million in the first year of her 5-year, $5.85 million restructured contract. The contract represents a 75% raise for Barnes after she led Arizona to its first Final Four in April.
Before the NCAA Tournament, she agreed to a 5-year, $3.35 million deal, which was approved by Regents in April.
