As expected, five-star shooting guard Shaedon Sharpe committed to Kentucky on Tuesday, choosing the Wildcats over Arizona, Kansas, Gonzaga, Oklahoma State and the G League Ignite.
All eight 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions predicted Sharpe would commit to Kentucky.
“Coach Cal’s track record of developing NBA players had a major impact on my decision,” Sharpe told ESPN. “I can see that he does a great job of working with athletes of my position and playing style and getting them to be the best versions of themselves. His experience is a large part of why I chose UK, but he believed in the vision and goals that I had for myself as well.”
While some regard Sharpe as the No. 1 prospect in the 2022 class. 247Sports composite ranks him No. 4 overall. The 6-foot-5 swingman is originally from Canada but attends Dream City Christian in Glendale, Arizona. He visited the UA a couple weekends ago, and isn’t the only five-star recruit they are/were in the running for.
UA is also one of five finalists for five-star point guard Jaden Bradley.
