Arizona sophomore forward Dylan Anderson is set to redshirt the 2023-24 season.

Anderson’s father confirmed to the Arizona Daily Star that his son will sit out the season. Redshirting was Anderson’s idea, his father said.

Mike Luke of PHNX Sports first reported that Anderson would redshirt.

The 7-foot Anderson played sparingly as a freshman, appearing in 15 games. Anderson averaged 1.4 points and 0.6 rebounds in 3.7 minutes.

Anderson, a Gilbert, Ariz. native, will have three remaining years of eligibility.

Arizona’s front court depth already took a hit earlier this week when it was reported that Henri Veesaar will miss four to six weeks after suffering a dislocated elbow. Veesaar appeared in 29 games last season, averaging 2.4 points and 1.5 rebounds in 7.1 minutes per game.

With Veesaar and Anderson on the bench, Arizona may have to begin the season with a smaller rotation.

Arizona’s front court is led by Preseason Pac-12 Team selection Oumar Ballo and San Diego State transfer Keshad Johnson.
