Arizona men’s basketball took a rare defeat on the recruiting trail Saturday as five star point guard Zoom Diallo committed to the Washington Huskies over UA, Gonzaga and USC.
Diallo, a 6-foot-4 guard in the class of 2024, grew up in Tacoma, Wash., not far from Seattle. Diallo is ranked the No. 19 prospect and No. 1 point guard in his class according to 247Sports.
Diallo had taken an official visit to Arizona in October.
Even without Diallo, Arizona’s 2024 class is shaping up to be a good one. The Wildats have signed letters of intent from Carter Bryant, Jamari Phillips and Emmanuel Stephen. Bryant and Phillips are ranked in the top 25 prospects, while Stephen is ranked No. 86.
Arizona could turn to the transfer portal next offseason to add another point guard, especially if Kylan Boswell chooses to enter the NBA Draft. Arizona will likely return guards K.J. Lewis and Jaden Bradley next year.
