Caleb Love is having the best season of his college basketball career, and on Wednesday the Arizona Wildcats guard was rewarded by being named to the John R. Wooden Award midseason watch list.

Love, a senior, is one of 25 players named to the watchlist. The award is given annually to the most outstanding player in college basketball.

Love is averaging a career high 17.7 points, which leads Arizona. He is also posting career bests in rebounds (4.1), assists (4.9), steals (1.3) and shooting percentage (44.4).

Love is coming off a stellar home stand in which he averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists on 60 percent shooting in wins over Colorado and Utah. Love earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors.

A North Carolina transfer, Love is shooting nearly seven percentage points better than his last season with the Tar Heels.

Players on the midseason watchlist that Arizona has faced include Purdue’s Zach Edey, Duke’s Kyle Filipowski, Michigan State’s Tyson Walker, Florida Atlantic’s Johnell Davis and Colorado’s KJ Simpson.
