Ka'Deem Carey was involved in a Dec. 23 incident that led to a protection order being served to the Arizona Wildcats running back on Jan. 2, KVOA in Tucson first reported.

Although it is unclear what the incident was, it apparently was enough for both head coach Rich Rodriguez and Arizona athletic director Greg Byrne to release statements.

Here they are:

"I've spoken with Ka'Deem and am aware of the case. We take these matters very seriously and will support the authorities however we can. Once more specific information is available, we will act accordingly."

-- Rich Rodriguez

"The University and Department of Athletics are fully aware of the situation. This is now a matter for the local authorities and we will fully cooperate and assist them as needed. At this point we will have no further comment."

--Greg Byrne

Carey, a sophomore, was the nation's rushing leader in Rodriguez's first season with Arizona.
