Ka'Deem Carey to be charged with domestic violence incident

Ka'Deem Carey, the Arizona Wildcats running back who led the nation in rushing during the 2012 season, has charges being filed against him for his involvement in a domestic dispute with his pregnant ex-girlfriend, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

Tucson Police spokesperson Sgt. Chris Widmer told the Star that Carey and a woman were part of a Dec. 23 domestic violence call. Police who responded did not find Carey at the scene when they arrived, but he returned and was questioned.

The running back and the woman showed signs of having a physical altercation, Widmer told the newspaper. Detectives reviewing the incident decided to file charges against Carey, and the exact charges will be announced at a City Court hearing later this week.

According to the Star, the woman requested the order after Carey allegedly forced his way into her room "for a lighter to smoke an illegal substance." She asked for Carey to leave, but he knocked her down when he refused, she wrote.

Carey also requested an order of protection against the woman, who is pregnant with his child, along with an injunction against harassment for the woman's mother. Those requests were denied Monday morning, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

On Sunday, KVOA reported that Carey was served a protection order on Jan. 2. It was filed by the 23-year-old woman on Dec. 26, three days after the incident.
