Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon has joined receiver Austin Hill on the Maxwell Award watch list for college football's best offensive player, while linebacker Scooby Wright has been added midseason to the Bednarik Award watch list given to the best defensive player.
Solomon so far has accumulated 2,136 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and four interceptions. He has completed 62.6 percent of his passes also has added 160 yards on the ground.
Wright perhaps has a more legitimate case to be in the running for such an honor. Though the Wildcats' defense has been far from impressive outside of the Oregon game, the Arizona middle linebacker has compiled 70 tackles less than halfway through the season (the next-closest Wildcat is Jared Tevis with 51 tackles). Wright additionally has 11 tackles for loss (Derrick Turituri is second with five), six sacks and two forced fumbles on top of one fumble recovery.
Hill was placed on the Maxwell list before the season and so far is second on Arizona in receiver yards, trailing Cayleb Jones' 592 yards and six touchdowns with 345 yards and three scores.
