After a dominating win for the Arizona Wildcats against the Washington State Cougars on Saturday, the national recognition rolled in for UA linebacker Scooby Wright.
Wright was named the National Defensive Player of the Week by the Walter Camp Foundation for his performance against the Cougs.
The sophomore linebacker picked up eight tackles (all of them solo), three tackles for loss, three sacks, and three forced fumbles. Those are some crazy numbers right there.
Arizona usually struggles with getting pressure on the quarterback, but they found a way this week by lining up Scooby on the defensive line often, which resulted in those three forced fumbles. Unfortunately, Arizona was unable to recover any of those fumbles.
Those three FF bring Wright's season total up to five, which leads all FBS players. He's also third in the nation in sacks (9) and tackles for loss (14).
Not bad for ol' Two-Star Scoob.
