Bishop Gorman head coach finalizing deal to become UNLV head coach

Anu Solomon's former head coach is likely heading to UNLV

James Snook-USA TODAY Sports

The UNLV Rebels are reportedly heading to the high school ranks for their next head coach.

But not just any head coach. The head coach at Las Vegas Bishop Gorman.

Tony Sanchez has been at Bishop Gorman since 2009, and has won six-straight Nevada state titles, four of those coming with current Arizona Wildcats quarterback Anu Solomon.

Solomon and Sanchez combined for a 57-3 record in high school, with Solomon starting each of those games. Solomon's first-career college start came against UNLV in 2014, where the redshirt freshman set all kinds of records at Arizona, including setting the program record in total offense in a single game.

Unfortunately, Arizona and UNLV's football series ran out this year. The Rebels finished the season 2-11, which led to Bobby Hauck resigning from the post. The facilities are outdated at UNLV, but with Sanchez coming in, that should change since he has relationships with a lot of important people in the Las Vegas area.
