College football rankings: Arizona sniffing top-25

The Wildcats are moving up the rankings ...

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

Even though the Arizona Wildcats nearly lost to Cal, they're moving on up in the college football ranking systems. Rich Rodriguez's team is currently sitting 30th in the Amway Coaches Poll with 45 points and 38th in the AP Poll after receiving nine points.

The Golden Bears were 2-0 and had respectability after looking pretty good against Northwestern and Sacramento State. The Wildcats' defense looked troubling, but there's apparently lot to be said for remaining perfect.

The bye week upcoming could make or break Arizona's season. Flopping against the Ducks next week will certainly paint a bad picture going forward. Hanging with Oregon could show signs of promising improvements.
