Tyrell Johnson is the first Wildcat to score in the 100m at the Pac-12 Championships since Chris McSwain in 2011. #BearDown— Arizona Track&Field (@ArizonaTrack) May 17, 2015
Tyrell Johnson entered the final with the 8th-best preliminary time...finished in third place in the final.— Arizona Track&Field (@ArizonaTrack) May 17, 2015
The Arizona WR/KR was also part of Arizona's 4x100m relay team that finished 6th in the meet with a time of 40.62 seconds.
We all knew that Johnson was fast, but this is crazy fast. Look for him to have his role on kick returns again in 2015, but also as the recipient of more handoffs on misdirection plays which will better utilize his sheer speed than running routes would. We saw a touch of it with him and Samajie Grant in the Spring game, but I would guess we'll see a lot more of it come September.
