Iowa LB/FB John Kenny transferring to Arizona

Get to know the newest Wildcat

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Wildcats have a new body coming to town as former Iowa Hawkeyes fullback John Kenny announced he is transferring to Arizona.

Kenny only played fullback at Iowa, but he will be playing linebacker at Arizona.

According to his Iowa Bio, Kenny played in 11 games last season, but only made four pass receptions resulting in 27 yards. He did not record any tackles for the team last year.

His bio is very strange, because it says "saw action in....but had no statistics" many times. Many, many times.

Coming from Carmel, IN, Kenny redshirted in 2013 before playing in those 11 games in 2014. After he sits out this season, he will have two years of eligibility left for the Wildcats.

In high school, he did make plays on the defensive side of the ball, forcing four fumbles in each of his final two years at that level. He also had 18 sacks in his three years, six fumble recoveries, and three blocked kicks. He also lettered in lacrosse and hockey, so apparently he likes to get physical.

Let's hope that a year of learning behind this year's group of linebackers helps Kenny transform himself from a fullback that didn't do much at Iowa into a productive linebacker at Arizona.
