Arizona football injury report: Cam Denson probable, Trey Griffey, Tyrell Johnson remain out vs. Nevada

A couple important injuries to the defense

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

We all know that Scooby Wright III is out for at least the rest of the non-conference season, but the defense has a couple of other major contributors nursing injuries heading into the first road game of the year.

Here's a look:

Probable: Cam Denson (concussion)

Questionable: DeAndre' Miller (wrist)

Doubtful: None

Out: Trey Griffey (foot), Tyrell Johnson (foot), Kwesi Mashack (hamstring), Scooby Wright (knee)

The good news is that left tackle Freddie Tagaloa is not on here. Of course, he wasn't listed on last week's official injury report either, which was released the day after he suffered his injury in practice. Sammy Morrison and Jake Matthews are two other major names that sustained injuries vs. UTSA, but are not listed.

Rich Rodriguez said earlier in the week that Cam Denson's initial tests all came back good, and they would test him out during practice this week to see if his body would respond in an appropriate manner.

Miller, along with Matthews, both suffered injuries during the UTSA game, but played through them. Miller also missed almost all of last season with a shoulder injury, so hopefully he won't have to miss too much time this year.

It seemed like Trey Griffey and Tyrell Johnson wouldn't return until the NAU game at the earliest when the season started, and that is most definitely the case now. Maybe they both come back with Scooby against UCLA. That would be interesting.

Kwesi Mashack got some playing time at corner in the opener, but suffered his injury on special teams. It looked pretty bad when it happened, so this may be a name that appears on here for a couple weeks. Having two corners on here, when it's already a super inexperienced group, is not exactly an ideal situation.
