In recent years, the FCS upsets of FBS teams seem to happen more often, and the Pac-12 has already had that this year, with Washington State losing to Portland State, along with several other teams struggling with their Big Sky foes, notably Arizona State and Oregon State, and even Oregon to a degree.
Well, the Arizona Wildcats will get a legit FCS team this week when the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks roll into town. NAU is ranked 24th in both the FCS Coaches' Poll, and the STATS Top 25.
NAU is 2-0 after defeating Stephen F. Austin on the road, and then rolling New Mexico Highlands in Flagstaff. The Lumberjacks got off to a fast start against NM Highlands before letting up a little bit, and winning that game 41-5.
The Lumberjacks have the 10th-most passing yards in FCS, and are actually second in the division in passing efficiency. Sure, they haven't really played anyone yet, and haven't played a conference game yet, so it's unclear how good they actually are, but the numbers are impressive.
Let's not sleep on NAU. Ok? Deal.
