We’re right around the 2/3rds mark of the college football regular season adventure, and according to our readers, the Pac-12 has kind of separated into four tiers of teams.
Here’s a look at how you voted in this week’s power rankings:
With a group of teams with better records taking out teams with worse records last week, we now have some groups in our voting.
There wasn’t a ton of movement in the actual order compared to last week, but when you look at the total points numbers, here are four clear-cut groups of teams:
- Tier 1: Washington Huskies
- Tier 2: Utah Utes, Colorado Buffaloes, Washington State Cougars, USC Trojans
- Tier 3: California Golden Bears, Stanford Cardinal, Arizona State Sun Devils, UCLA Bruins
- Tier 4: Oregon State Beavers, Oregon Ducks, Arizona Wildcats
Washington/Utah is clearly the best matchup of the weekend, and College GameDay will be in Salt Lake City for that showdown. As for the rest of the conference, the Tier 4 teams all have their shots against teams above them, and all those lower tier teams are at home. Arizona hosts Stanford, Oregon hosts ASU, and OSU hosts WSU. The conference gets started on Thursday this week when Cal goes to USC.
There may be a lack of quality games this week outside of the possible Pac-12 Championship Game preview, but at least the teams that haven’t found success yet have a chance to discover some magic at home.
