Duel in the Desert predictions: Will Arizona or ASU take home the Territorial Cup?

Can the Wildcats score a conference win over their rivals?

NCAA Football: Arizona State at Arizona Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

This is it.

This is the Arizona Wildcats’ last chance to avoid going winless in conference play for the first time since 1957.

There’s an added incentive for this game being more than just bragging rights, displaying the Territorial Cup in Tucson for the next year, and all that jazz. There’s the ability to keep the Arizona State Sun Devils from becoming bowl eligible as well.

So, will Arizona pull it off?

Make your picks here, and we give ours below:

Alec Sills-Trausch: Oh this will be fun. The two teams come in with a combined conference record of 2-14 and it’s going to be shown nationally on ESPN. RIP to those TV ratings. However, Arizona does have something to play for. They won’t technically benefit but they can keep ASU home from ‘bowling’ this winter with a victory. Plus, it’ll get RichRod off the schneid and maybe get a few fans off his back. As for the actual game, I have literally no idea who is going to win. Plus, I’m only a game back from Ryan in our picks this season meaning we need different choices for me to reach him.

Arizona 24 - ASU 17

Ryan Kelapire: My perfect 11-0 record hangs in the balance and this is the toughest game to pick yet. Weird things happen when the Territorial Cup is at stake and both these teams are pretty terrible right now.

I think this game is as close to a 50-50 game as you can get, but I think the Sun Devils are less incompetent than the Wildcats...but not by much.

ASU 27, Arizona 24

Steve Apter: Arizona state 42 - Arizona 21

Brandon Combs: Reference my season-movie comparison in the roundtable.

Arizona 35 - Arizona St 31

James Schlittenhart: Arizona is overmatched regardless of who the opponent is. ASU wins easily.

ASU 38, Arizona 17

David Stevenson: Mercifully the ASU rout will be on in the first quarter so everyone can flip over to the basketball game in Vegas.

ASU 48 Arizona 13

Drake Horner: Arizona gets off to a good start and the defense gets a couple turnovers to seal the game. Putting a good note on a sour season with the Cup back in Tucson

Arizona 28, ASU 21

Jason Bartel: I already made my pick for this week over on House of Sparky, so I will stand by that.

ASU 34 - Arizona 24
