Colorado Buffaloes ranked 12th in College Football Playoff rankings

Almost a top-ten team coming to Tucson this weekend

Last week, the Arizona Wildcats got taken out by the No. 25 team in the College Football Playoff rankings when the Washington State Cougars crushed them 69-7.

This week, Arizona welcomes the No. 12 team in the rankings to Tucson, the Colorado Buffaloes.

Here’s a look at the top 15 in the rankings:

It was a good week for the Pac-12 in general. With Texas A&M getting upset by Mississippi State, that moved the Washington Huskies up into the top four. And here are the Utah Utes sneaking up a spot into 15th. Not pictured are the USC Trojans, who went from unranked to 20th, and WSU moved from 25 to 23.

After nine games played in 2014, Arizona was ranked 14th in the CFP Rankings. It was thought that if the Wildcats had beaten the Oregon Ducks in the Pac-12 Championship Game that year that they would have made the Final Four.

So, Colorado is in a slightly better spot than Arizona was. If the Buffs can run the table and take down the likely opponent of UW in the Conference Championship Game, maybe they can sneak in there.

Still a long way to go, but the chance is there. Arizona will look to derail CU’s hopes on Saturday night. That game is scheduled to kick off at 8 PM MT.
