Fans have been clamoring for Khalil Tate to start at quarterback for the Arizona Wildcats, and they sort of got their wish Saturday.
Starting quarterback Brandon Dawkins exited with an injury on Arizona’s first drive against the Colorado Buffaloes, forcing Tate into action.
And on Tate’s first full drive at QB, the sophomore ran for a 58-yard touchdown, cutting back a few times to avoid defenders to put Arizona up 7-0 in the first quarter.
Here’s the highlight:

On Tate’s second full drive, he ran for another touchdown. This one was only from 28 yards out.

That’s one way to win a quarterback competition.
