NFL training camp is right around the corner and there are 14 former Arizona Wildcats holding down roster spots at the moment.
The full list is below.
Keep in mind that NFL teams are allowed to carry up to 90 players into training camp, and must cut down to 53 by the start of the regular season, so it’s unlikely that all of these former Wildcats will be on an NFL roster come September.
New England Patriots
- Rob Gronkowski
Cincinnati Bengals
- Marquis Flowers
Pittsburgh Steelers
- Robert Golden
Denver Broncos
- Will Parks
Philadelphia Eagles
- Nick Foles
Chicago Bears
- Ka’Deem Carey
Green Bay Packers
- Reggie Gilbert
Minnesota Vikings
- Cayleb Jones
- Freddie Tagaloa
Atlanta Falcons
- Brooks Reed
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Nick Folk
- Paul Magloire Jr. (injured reserve)
Arizona Cardinals
- Scooby Wright III
San Francisco 49ers
- Earl Mitchell
It seems notable that only two players listed above were recruited out of high school by Rich Rodriguez and/or his coaching staff — Will Parks and Scooby Wright III.
Needless to say that’s not a great track record, considering Rodriguez is entering his sixth season at Arizona.
Not included on this list is Trey Griffey, who was recently released off injured reserve by the Indianapolis Colts.
Also not on this list is six-year veteran Trevin Wade. The defensive back played in 16 games for the New York Giants last season (including two starts), but the 27-year-old remains a free agent for the time being.
