Arizona Wildcats wide receiver Donovan Moore has been hospitalized after suffering “serious injuries” in a car crash Thursday night near Pima Community College West Campus, the Tucson Police Department reported.
The two-car accident occurred around 11 p.m. at the intersection of N. Greasewood Rd. and W. Anklam Rd.
Detectives “were able to determine the driver of a blue 2005 Nissan Altima was stopped for a red light southbound on Greasewood Rd. at W. Anklam Rd. The light turned green and the driver entered the intersection when she was struck by the driver of a black 2017 Infiniti SUV that was eastbound on Anklam Rd. and failed to stop for a red light,” according to TPD. “The investigation is ongoing to determine if any other factors played a role in this collision.”
Pima CC fullback Jordan Waddell, driving the SUV with Moore in the passenger’s seat, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The adult female driver of the Altima suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.
Moore, a redshirt junior who attended Tucson High, played two seasons at Pima CC before arriving at Arizona.
The 5-foot-9 receiver returned one kick for 12 yards in Arizona’s 62-24 win over NAU on Sept. 2.
