College football begins its early signing period on Wednesday, a three-day window in which a slew of high school and junior college prospects will officially lock in their college choices.
This is the third year of the early period, with all prep players signing during the traditional period in February prior to 2017. Arizona Wildcats coach Kevin Sumlin has cited numerous times over the past few months that as many as 80 percent of recruits will sign during the early window.
That doesn’t appear to be the case for the UA this time around, as only 14 players are currently publicly committed for 2020 (and not all of them plan to sign this week). Based on its scholarship numbers, Arizona is hoping to sign up to 25 players in this class, though that figure would likely include transfers.
