National Signing Day has passed, but the Arizona Wildcats aren’t done adding to their 2019 class.
Seth Mackellar, one of the best long snappers in the nation, announced Friday that he has accepted a spot as a preferred walk-on spot.
I would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to COMMIT to the University of Arizona ⬇️‼️ pic.twitter.com/RmNFRMXcCe— Seth Mackellar (@sethmackellar64) February 9, 2019
Mackellar is the second-ranked long snapper in the country and a 5-star prospect, according to Kohl’s Kicking. He also was an Under Armour All-American this past season.
Mackellar attends JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, California. He adds much-needed depth to a position group that severely lacked depth.
Redshirt junior Donald Reiter is Arizona’s only returning long snapper after veteran Nick Reinhardt graduated and newcomer Geno Albini entered the transfer portal.
Reiter played in 12 games as a redshirt freshman in 2017 after Reinhardt went down with a torn ACL early in the season.
