Kevin Sumlin’s connections in the Lone Star State continue to pay off with the Arizona Wildcats’ latest addition to the 2020 recruiting class.
On Wednesday, the Wildcats landed a pledge from Drake Dabney, a 3-star tight end from Cypress, Texas.
Thank God, he gave me a shot.

The 6-foot-4, 228-pound Dabney is rated by 247Sports as the No. 756 player in the 2020 class as well as the 28th-best tight end and No. 103 prospect from Texas. He picked Arizona over offers from Arizona State, Baylor, California and Iowa State, among others.
Arizona now has seven known commitments in the 2020 class, with Dabney being the third this week as well as the third from Texas. The Wildcats’ 2019 class had eight Texans, the most since the Mike Stoops days.
