The preseason accolades keep piling up for Arizona football players, with two more mentions of Wildcats on just-released award watch lists.
The latest nods go to junior linebackers Tony Fields II and Colin Schooler, both of whom were named to the preseason list for the Butkus Award, given to college football’s top LB.

This is the second watch list nod for Schooler, who is also among the preseason candidates for the Bednarik Award given to CFB’s best defensive player. Fields have not previously been on a watch list, but like Schooler he’s been on the national radar since garnering Freshman All-American honors in 2017.
All told, six different Arizona players have been named to eight different watch lists. The other Wildcats getting preseason love so far are:
- C Josh McCauley (Rimington Award)
- QB Khalil Tate (Maxwell Award, O’Brien Award)
- RB J.J. Taylor (Maxwell Award, Doak Walker Award)
- TE Bryce Wolma (Mackey Award)
