Analysis: Fryar is another player that I’ve unfortunately not been able to watch yet this season. But, he is one I’m very much looking forward to seeing.
Fryar has an excellent build for an inside linebacker, much like current freshman D.J. Mourning. He is surprisingly faster than I originally thought and that helps him in his other role as a RB for Steilacoom High School.
He has a natural athleticism and awareness that help him as a backer. He is able to use that awareness and vision in order to read and react to the offense. He then uses the athleticism and speed to finish plays. He is a decent tackler and has shown to be effective in pass coverage as well.
He has a really high ceiling and will need at least a year to develop fully as a backer in the Pac-12. There are a few national and western area recruiting writers who really like Fryar. I agree and think that he is a steal in this class.
