There won’t be a third final go-around for Lorenzo Burns.

The redshirt senior cornerback announced Thursday he would pass on returning for a sixth season of college football with the Arizona Wildcats, instead declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft.

The 5-foot-11, 174-pound Burns started 40 games for Arizona at corner, including the final 17 of his career. In 2020 he had 24 tackles and a pass breakup, and for his career finished with nine interceptions, 192 tackles and 26 PBU.

Burns participated in Arizona’s Senior Night festivities in 2019—when he was a Pac-12 honorable mention selection—but opted to return for another year. The NCAA is not counting 2020 toward any player’s eligibility, making it possible for him to have come back once again.

Instead, Burns will look to be the first UA player drafted since P.J. Johnson went in the seventh round of the Detroit Lions in 2019.
