3-star defensive end Nick Dimitris includes Arizona in final 7

The Arizona Wildcats are still searching for their first commitment of the 2021 recruiting class, though it’s not for a lack of trying. The football program has offered scholarships to more than 20 prospects during the NCAA’s coronavirus-mandated dead period which runs through at least May 31.

Odds are that, once Arizona is able to once again have in-person contact recruits it will make Nick Dimitris a priority, particularly after the 3-star defensive end included the Wildcats among his top schools:

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Dimitris is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 566 player in the 2021 recruiting class, and his composite score of 0.8628 is higher than all but one player Arizona signed in the 2020 class. He’s considered the No. 34 weak-side defensive end in the country and the 51st-best player in California.

From Baldwin Park, Dimitris plays for Sierra Vista High School and also holds offers from ASU, Florida, Maryland, Oregon State, Penn State, Tennessee and Washington State in addition to the schools still on his list.

Colorado may be Arizona’s top competitor for Dimitris, as it’s the only school among his finalists that he’s visited and because the Buffaloes’ staff now includes two coaches he has made connections with, one of which was on the UA staff until just before spring practice began.

“I already have a good relationship with coach Chev (Darrin Chiaverini) and Demetrice Martin is there now and we have a good relationship from when he was at Arizona,” Dimitris told 247Sports’ Greg Biggins. “Those are my guys so all is good there.”

Dimitris is one of more than 120 players Arizona has offered in the 2021 class yet it’s one of five Pac-12 schools without a commitment.
