It’s been a huge accomplishment that new Arizona Wildcats coach Jedd Fisch and his staff managed to convince several players who had entered the NCAA transfer portal to come back to the program. But there are still several ex-Wildcats still in the portal, including one who added his name to the list on Thursday.
Freshman running back Frank Brown Jr. announced on Twitter he was leaving the team after one season, marking the 12th different Wildcat from the 2020 team to pursue a transfer.

The 6-foot, 200-pound Brown appeared in one game for Arizona, getting snaps against Colorado on Dec. 5. He missed the first three games of the season because of a knee injury and did not play in the finale against ASU.
Brown was Arizona’s top-rated signee in the 2020 recruiting class, a 3-star prospect that 247Sports ranked as the No. 628 player in the country. The Houston native picked the Wildcats over Houston, Michigan State, Missouri and Nebraska.
Wide receivers Stanley Berryhill III, Boobie Curry, Jamarye Joiner and Ma’jon Wright have all withdrawn from the transfer portal since Fisch was hired to replace Kevin Sumlin, though Berryhill had initially committed to Ball State before backing off that pledge. Three ex-Wildcats have found new homes: quarterback Grant Gunnell is at Memphis, offensive lineman Jamari Williams is with Middle Tennessee and quarterback Rhett Rodriguez is at Louisiana-Monroe, where his father (and former UA head coach Rich Rodriguez) is the Warhawks’ offensive coordinator.
Besides Brown, the other players from the UA’s 2020 roster who are in the portal are cornerbacks Khary Crump and Edric Whitley, offensive lineman Robert Congel and wide receiver Drew Dixon.
