The list of former Arizona Wildcats in the NFL grew by one on Saturday, with the Arizona Cardinals elevating ex-UA cornerback Jace Whittaker from the practice squad.
Whittaker, 26, appeared in four games for the Cardinals in 2020, who had signed him as an undrafted free agent, notching two tackles apiece in November home games against the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Whittaker played 49 games at Arizona from 2015-19, starting 35 including every game in the 2017 and 2019 seasons. He finished his career with 34 pass breakups, fourth-most in school history, as well as seven interceptions.
Arizona, the only unbeaten team in the NFL at 4-0, hosts the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The 49ers roster features ex-UA defensive back Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles, who played with Whittaker from, 2015-18.
There are now nine former Arizona players in the NFL, three of which are defensive backs. The other is safety Dane Cruikshank, who plays for the Tennessee Titans.
