Isaiah Taylor, the son of NFL Hall of Fame defensive end Jason Taylor, is a nice piece to a depleted safety group. His lineage is undeniable, but there’s more to it than that.

Taylor is very athletic, as evidenced by his 100+ yard pick six to start off his highlights. He shows off his speed as he weaved his way through potential tacklers and sped off to the end zone. He uses that speed to close quickly, and decisively, on the ball carrier to take them down.

He plays with an aggressive streak. He isn’t afraid of contact and uses solid tackling technique, mixed with his speed, to take down the ball carrier. His ability to use this aggressiveness with his high football IQ and ability to quickly dissect plays makes him a good tackler overall.

Taylor has decent change of direction, allowing him to quickly react while in coverage. He does need some fine tuning of his footwork overall, but his coverage skills are decent.

Taylor is a good first commit for Jedd Fisch’s staff.
