The Arizona Wildcats have once again successfully navigated the NCAA transfer portal, grabbing a second defensive player from a Mid-American Conference school.

Jerry Roberts, a linebacker who began his career at Bowling Green, announced Monday he has committed to Arizona for 2021:

A 6-foot-4, 235-pound native of Erie, Pa., Roberts spent four seasons with the Falcons, appearing in 20 games with 15 starts including all five games in 2020. He has 93 career tackles, 7.5 for loss, as well as 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

Roberts, who will be a redshirt junior with Arizona, is the 10th transfer the Wildcats have added this offseason and the second linebacker. Treshaun Howard, who was the MAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2019 with Western Michigan, will be a senior on the 2021 squad.

Arizona now has 12 scholarship linebackers on the roster, nine of whom will be freshmen or sophomores. Senior Anthony Pandy, redshirt sophomore Issaiah Johnson and freshman DJ Mourning are the only LBs who have started at game for the UA.
