The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Clemons is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 132 player in the 2022 recruiting class, as well as the nation’s 18th-best receiver and the No. 1 prospect from Oregon. This past fall he played for Pleasant Grove High School in Utah, catching 37 passes for 760 yards and nine touchdowns, but has returned to Portland where he’ll rejoin his Westview High School team for his senior season.
Clemons told 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman that the addition of wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings is what got him interested in the Wildcats.
“Before coach (Kevin) Cummings got there, I wasn’t even thinking about Arizona,” Clemons said. “But he did a great job making me feel like a priority and showing my why Arizona was the place for me.”
Huffman projects Clemons as a multi-year starter at the power-conference level and a second-day NFL draft pick, noting he “has terrific body control and ability to adjust to all passes, both low and high, with strong hands able to catch everything in traffic. Polished route runner with ability to catch passes in tight spaces. Tough over the middle. Consistently gets separation.”
Clemons is the second 4-star prospect in the last few days to include Arizona among his top schools, following 4-star Florida defensive lineman Dominick James. The UA currently has three players committed in the 2022 recruiting class.
