The Arizona Wildcats nearly made it through spring practice without any significant injuries, but a potentially big one occurred during the final go-around.
Wide receiver Jamarye Joiner spent the second half of last Saturday’s Spring Game in street clothes and with a boot on his surgically repaired left foot, which apparently required another procedure.

Joiner appeared to have gotten hurt while making a 61-yard catch from Gunner Cruz during the first half of the Spring Game. He previously had surgery on his left foot in May 2020 to repair a Jones fracture that developed during the 2019 season.
Recruited to UA as a quarterback, the 6-foot-1, 207-pound redshirt sophomore was converted to receiver in 2019 and finished with 34 catches for 552 yards and five touchdowns that season. In the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign he had 12 catches for 111 yards and a TD.
It’s unknown if Joiner will be healed in time to be a full participant in fall practice, which is expected to begin the first week of August. Wide receiver is one of Arizona’s deeper positions, with eight other scholarship pass catchers going through spring ball.
